I’ve been coaching long enough to know that excellent players come in all largenesses. It’s true that height and weight can be an advantage but they only go so far. I’ll take a smaller guy with drive, enthusiasm, and a strategic mind over brute strength any day. Grant Ducati is one of these smaller dudes that still has it all going on. He’s a outstanding asset to the team; lad just needs to be used the right way. Grant has what I call “Super Hero Syndrome”. Way too many youthful athletes get it. Shs is the idea that they have to be six feet tall and 3 feet wide to be each fantastic. I could tell Grant was throwing himself in the middle of things like the bigger lads without appreciating this his strengths are speed and agility. A scarcely any days ago, I heard a couple of the coaches talking in the office when they thought they were alone and I think I know just the kind of confidence-building exercise Grant needs, and I think we are both going to have joy it a lot. I told Grant to meet me here after practice. Lad probably thinks he’s in trouble. Heck! I hope man does not think I’m kicking him off the team but he’ll find out in a short time sufficient. I’m sitting on the sofa when this guy comes in the door and, before I can say anything, he’s already apologizing. I reassure him that he’s not in trouble. Beyond question, I crave to tell him this he’s doing gorgeous excellent. Dude just needs a little more self-confidence. Like I suspect, it is SHS. It’s time to put my plan into action and hope he’s up for it. I widen my legs wide.
